Liwa Oasis and the Empty Quarter has been nominated in the Landscapes category of the New7Wonders of Nature campaign while the Bu Tinah Shoals has been nominated in the Islands section. Both nominations require the support of an OSC in order to be eligible for the final stages of the competition.
Al Bu Tinah Shoals is unique for its associated wildlife particularly dugongs, sea turtles and birds (ospreys and flamingos)."

Liwa Oasis and the Empty Quarter has moved up two places in the rankings over the last 24 hours from 14th to 12th in the Landscapes category while Bu Tinah Shoals remains in 26th place in the Islands category.
